Review by hotel critic
Nestled in the serene village of Elvington, the Grey Horse offers a delightful blend of comfort and charm that perfectly complements my family's recent Christmas getaway. From the moment we stepped into our immaculate, spacious room—replete with cozy pillows and every thoughtful detail—we felt an instant sense of relaxation. The highlight of our stay was dining in the inviting pub atmosphere, where I was captivated by their decadent take on traditional dishes, particularly the hand-made Steak & Ale Pie and the Lotus Biscoff Sundae, which my daughters still rave about. The hotel’s caring staff truly made us feel at home, ensuring our every need was met with a warm smile. I appreciated how they effortlessly balanced a laid-back vibe with attentive service, making our evenings spent over board games and quizzes even more enjoyable. The breakfast options were equally impressive, giving us a leisurely start to our days thanks to the flexibility of when it was served. With the hustle and bustle of locals and the scenic village setting outside, the Grey Horse felt like an ideal retreat for our family adventures. It’s a cozy spot I’d happily return to, merging my love for immersive travel experiences with a genuine taste of quintessential pub culture.
